The Ponderay Police Department would like to take the opportunity to give thanks to all of our citizens who have unselfishly been adhering to the various suggestions and orders that have been brought before us during these difficult times.
The isolation order issued from the Governor's Office on March 25th is the law. However, the Ponderay Police Department's goal in the enforcement of that law is education of the public and to encourage voluntary compliance.Through education, we all can keep from overwhelming our health care system during this time of crisis. The more people that we keep healthy over a longer period, the more successful our health care professionals will be in curtailing this virus.
The Ponderay Police Department will not be out actively looking for violations of this order. Even though violations can be possibly processed as a misdemeanor crime, it is our preference to educate and hopefully in that manner, save lives.
We ask again that if you have a non-essential business, that you temporarily close. Stay home as much as possible and if you have to go out into the public, continue to socially distance yourself (6 feet) whenever possible and wash your hands frequently. All of these precautions will not only aid in the slowing of the Corona virus but will also help with the cold/flu season we are currently in.
Once we get back to a healthy status, we can then begin to work to rebuild the awesome economy that we were experiencing pre-COVID 19.
Please thank a health care professional when you seen them!!
STAY APART STAY SAFE STAY WELL
The Ponderay Police Department would like our citizens to know that during these troubling times, we are still out there serving you! As part of that service, we would like to offer the following suggestions on how to help yourselves during the COVID-19 threat.
1. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for approximately 20 seconds. If you hum the alphabet song, it is about 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer that is at least 60 percent alcohol will do the trick as well.
2. Avoid touching yourself in the mouth, nose eyes...etc (Face) with unwashed hands.
3. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects.
4. Cover your coughs and sneezes.
5. Practice "social distancing".
6. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Stay home if you are sick or getting sick.
